Fishing -
Ice fishing is a popular activity on
Lake Pend Oreille. You can purchase
your fishing license at any local
sporting outfitter store, and set up
your shack.
Snowmobiling
- You can take a guided tour at the
top of Schweitzer Mountain Resort
and go all the way to Priest River
(Approx. 30 miles).

Ski - Whether you want
to snowshoe or cross country ski,

Schweitzer Mountain
Resort - is an easy 11
miles from downtown Sandpoint. This
winter and summer destination has
spectacular views of Lake Pend
Oreille and the surrounding mountain
ranges. In winter, ski and snowboard
through the 2,500 acres of
accessible terrain. In summer, there
is hiking, mountain biking,
huckleberry picking, paintballing,
disc golf, horseback riding and
scenic chairlift rides. Schweitzer
also rents out equipment for
visitors.

Sleigh Rides
- Western Pleasure Guest Ranch, 16
miles northeast of Sandpoint, Idaho,
offers sleigh rides in a rural
setting for groups and couples. Call

Public Boat Launches
- There are numerous public boat launches in
Sandpoint, including Sandpoint City Beach,
Memorial Field, Hope, the Mud Hole in Priest
River and Sunnyside Recreation Area.

- Lake Pend Oreille's Shores consist of
lot's of public, community and private

Lake Pend Oreille -
is Idaho's largest and deepest lake, with
111 miles of shoreline, fantastic scenery,
big fish and lots of stuff to do. Some
recreation ideas include fishing, boating,
waterskiing and wakeboarding, walks,
wildlife watching, boat tours, and sailing.
Hiking - Sandpoint
has thousands of acres accessible for
hiking.

National Forests -
There are three national forests in the
North Idaho Panhandle; the Idaho Panhandle,
Colville and Kootenai. Each are easy
accessible from Sandpoint, Idaho for hiking,
hunting, camping and many other recreation
possibilities.

Golf - Six area golf
courses are within easy reach of Sandpoint,
including three 18-hole layouts - one with a
bonus 19th hole - and three nine hole
courses. The following are listed in order
with the closest course to Sandpoint listed
first:
- Sandpoint Elks: 9- hole
course just two miles from downtown on

- Idaho Club: 18 holes
championship course 8 miles east of
Sandpoint on Highway 200 at the Pack River
Delta on Lake Pend Oreille.

Beach Water Park - the Pacific
Northwest's largest theme park with over 60
rides and attractions.

Sandpoint area has a variety of health clubs
to choose from, including the largest and
most complete, Sandpoint West Athletic Club,
located on Pine Street.

Farmers Markets -
The Farmers Market is where local farmers
and merchants sell organic fruits,
vegetables, breads and homemade goods. Local
Entertainment is offered each week. Hours of
operation are Wednesday afternoons and
Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
The downtown Sandpoint merchants offer a
wide variety of items including home made
lotions at Pack River potions, Coldwater
Creek merchandise, T-shirts and specialty
items.
